Azimut 68

by Frank Stevenson9 November 2021 in Motoryachts, no comment

The Italian builder’s second new Flybridge of the year is the Azimut 68, which offers forward and aft galley options and is among world premieres at Cannes.

Having launched the Azimut 53 (Review, Issue 60) earlier this year, the builder is releasing the new 68 Flybridge, which is among its four world premieres at the Cannes Yachting Festival (September 7-12). Alberto Mancini designed the exterior of the 68ft 10in model, following his work on the 78 and 53 Flybridges, Grande Trideck and new S models, Achille Salvagni designed the interiors and the exterior furniture, while Pierluigi Ausonio was responsible for naval architecture.

The 68 offers three different saloon layouts on the main deck to suit different lifestyles, with a forward galley either open or closed, or an open aft galley. In the Lanterna layout, the living area is by the entrance, with the forward galley hidden behind a surface of ribbed wood and plexiglass. The galley is closed off but still enables light to flow through the interior.

Another option is an open version of the forward galley that opens directly onto the dining area, which can also be converted into a second lounge zone.

The other option is the aft galley to port, which serves both indoors and outdoors, while keeping the cook connected with the social area. The dining table is across from the galley, with the saloon situated on the raised, forward level.

Below deck, four cabins and three bathrooms accommodate up to eight guests, with a separate area for one or two crew members.

The yacht has a top speed of 32 knots and a cruising speed of 28 knots with twin Volvo IPS 1350 pods. The materials include extensive use of carbon-fibre in the upper parts including the superstructure, hard top and part of the deck, which helps lower the centre of gravity for greater stability.

Marine Italia represents Azimut in Hong Kong, Macau, Guangdong province, Taiwan and Singapore.
