The Australian builder has launched hull one of its new 78 Motor Yacht, with hull two sold to a Thailand-based client.

Riviera has launched hull one of its 78 Motor Yacht ahead of the flagship’s debut at the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (May 19-22). The second hull has been sold by Thailand-based Lee Marine, the Gold Coast builder’s longestserving international dealer.


Featuring an overall length of 81 5in and an almost 206 beam, the 78 is available with an enclosed or open bridge deck and was designed with Italian superyacht designer Luca Vallebona. Power options include twin 1,550hp, 1,800hp or 2,000hp MAN diesel engines for a top speed of over 30 knots and a 1,000nm-plus range with 10,200 litres of fuel.


An features include a full-width high-low swim platform with access to a tender garage and crew quarters. On the main deck, the covered cockpit includes an aft sofa, an L-shape sofa and teak dining table to starboard, barbecue to port, a retractable aft screen and wing doors on either side.


The interior starts with a U-shaped galley to starboard, while the aft window lowers electrically to connect the cockpit and interior. The saloon features a large L-shaped sofa and a side-deck door to starboard opposite a two-seat couch to port, aft of a wet bar. The versatile foredeck offers several entertaining layouts and a Euro sun awning, plus the option to carry a tender or jetski.


An aft staircase to port leads to the bridge deck, which includes a social area aft of a superyacht-like helm station with four large navigation screens. The leather captain’s chair is flanked by companion chairs, while to starboard of the skipper is an extended console with engine controls.


The open aft deck has a bar with high seats, C-shaped sofa and foldout teak dining table, while a day head is an option. The coaming includes port and starboard joysticks for slow-speed manoeuvring.


From the forward end of the main-deck saloon, a curved timber staircase leads to the lower deck, which has four guest cabins and three bathrooms, Midships, the full-beam master suite has extended hull windows, king-size bed and his-and-hers bathroom.


The VIP en-suite in the bow has a queen bed and natural light from hull windows and twin overhead hatches. The port guest cabin can have a double bed or sliding twin singles, and has en-suite access to a bathroom that doubles as the day head and bathroom for guests in the starboard cabin, which has cross-over berths.
