Italian Rosetti Superyachts produces superyachts and explorer type yachts of 35-140 meters and auxiliary boats. The explorer yacht project RSY 38m EXP M/Y Emocean, on which the shipyard has been working meticulously for the last few years, was on the superyacht agenda last month.
An explorer whose architecture and exterior design was entrusted to Hydro Tec, and interior design to BurdissoCapponi Yachts & Design, one of the most striking features of the RSY 38m EXP M/Y Emocean is its spacious living spaces that defy its height.
Having a strong body design with its angular lines, the width of the windows and portholes is striking in MY Emocean.
Operating under the Rosetti Marino Group, which has a long history of nearly 100 years and is traded on the Milan Stock Exchange, Rosetti Superyachts has been building yachts that stand out with their design and performance features since its establishment in 2017. Despite his youth, the CEO of the shipyard,
Ermanno Bellettini, said about the point the shipyard has reached today: “Thanks to the financial soundness of the group we are in and the technical and engineering expertise we have safely obtained from our sister companies, we can exist as a new player in the yachting sector and overcome the difficulties.”
OWNER’S CONTRIBUTION AND IMPACT
When we look at the final version of M/Y Emocean and examine its technical features, we cannot help but be surprised. We are curious about the design and construction concept of this eye-catching explorer, which has the luxury and comfort of a 50-meter superyacht, and moreover, the long process it has gone through. Rosetti Superyachts describes the M/Y Emocean as “an atypical of its class”. So how did this different conclusion come about?
According to the statement made by the shipyard; They were involved in all the design and construction processes of the RSY 38m EXP M/Y Emocean, which was built for a couple experienced in maritime. The couple requested from the shipyard to implement all necessary conditions for their plans to spend a long time in comfort and safety on the yacht.
Andrea Giora, Rosetti Superyachts Sales and Marketing Director, said, “The reason yacht owners chose us was because of our experience in building reliable commercial vessels. That was what was written at the top of their brief,” and added: “On the other hand, interacting with the manufacturer means they have clearly stated that they want to know the suppliers and choose the best for each element to be used on the yacht, to work with the best.” The M/Y Emocean is the first body of the RSY 38m EXP. This yacht was so popular that the shipyard has already ordered a second hull.
BOTH CLASSIC AND CONTEMPORARY CONCEPT
We have mentioned that the yacht with a width of 8.5 meters and a volume of 432 GT has the characteristics of larger yachts. Let’s express this more specifically: M/Y Emocean’s indoor and outdoor living spaces, which are designed with equal distribution, reach a total of 700 square meters. It is possible to sense from the profile concept that the classical approach is preferred in proportioning such a volume, and the contemporary style is preferred; The angular and tense lines make the exterior identity of the yacht very evident.
The width of the windows and portholes in the hull is also remarkable, which was realized according to the wishes of the yacht owners. It is not difficult to understand that the aesthetic appearance gained was not implemented so easily.
Sergio Cutolo, founder of Hydro Tec, who has done the exterior design and architecture, explained all this: “The profile and hull are a reflection of functionality and reliability, which are the main priorities of yacht owners. Both are essential requirements for long voyages away from ports and marinas. He also gave importance to crew spaces and hold volumes.”
SMART, LUXURIOUS AND FUNCTIONAL CHOICES
At first glance, the M/Y Emocean can be compared to the contemporaries of its class. But it’s a differentiated, customized superyacht with many touches that set it apart. For example; The main saloon and lounge are unusually positioned on the upper deck.
While the wide windows of the hall, which is accessed by sliding doors, fill both the view and natural light, it was a good decision to place the ventilation system designed for the engine room away from this area. The layouts of the open decks reveal how comfort is harmonized with luxury and where functionality meets aesthetics.
In the 150 square meter sundeck, there is an ostentatious jacuzzi, a large bar, a 12-person dining area, sitting groups and a gym section. The beach club, water toys and tender storage area on the lower deck once again tells that yacht owners love to spend a long time at sea. Equipped with a home theater system, a bar and wide windows for movie nights, the Sky Lounge is located on the bridge deck.
INTERIOR DESIGN ELEMENTS ACCORDING TO TASTE, NEEDS AND LOCATION
The trademark of Ravenna-based local design firm Burdisso Capponi Yachts & Design, known for presenting the latest contemporary ideas, is its masterful combination of Cretan oak and dark smoked oak. Another important feature of the interior living spaces; The main lobby, where a custom-made sculpture by Giacinto Bosco stands proudly in the stairwell.
Designer Francesca Burdisso summarizes their work for M/ Y Emocean: “This project was born out of the close collaboration and synergy we captured with the owners, who expressed their tastes and desires, functional and layout needs. After many meetings with the owners, the character you can witness throughout the yacht. and it became clear that the stairs that reflect the style will be the mainstay of the project.” It is seen that bright and opaque polishes are used alternately in light but warm tones on furniture surfaces.
While the owner’s bathroom has Silk Georgette marble surfaces with both raw and brushed surfaces, the guest bathrooms are equipped with Silestone Coral Clay with a suede finish. Burdisso detailed the design philosophy adopted with the words, “The yacht owners opted for natural tones with materials that convey a quiet but fresh ambiance in the Mediterranean atmosphere. Furniture forms are characterized by clean and basic lines.”
FINE PLANS FOR LONG JOURNEY
One of the private areas on the starboard side of the yacht is the wine cellar with a capacity of 150 bottles. Actually, this section has another function: to separate the guest areas and the master cabin. The master cabin, which has a side balcony and is quite spacious, is accessed by a sliding glass door to the starboard side. Yacht owners wanted this solution, and they preferred it to have more privacy without the help of the crew.
Four guest cabins are located on the lower deck, two of which are double. Three cabins are reserved for the crew on the same deck. Laundry and storage are located between the upper deck and the main deck. The cooker’s freezer has a capacity of 3,000 liters in order to gain complete independence and be stocked on long cruises. The crew cellar and the technical room, which stores enough fuel and water to guarantee long voyages, are also located on the lower deck.
NOT A TYPICAL EXPLORER
The first body of the RSY 38m EXP, the M/Y Emocean is equipped with twin MAN D2868 LE 425 (588kW) engines. The round displacement hull superyacht competes with the models in its class with its ultra-modern appearance.
